• Shikhar is registered as a Non Government Organization (NGO). This registration is given to institutions that have a main objective of social benefit and not for profit to its stakeholders.
  
• Shikhar was started by professionals and individuals associated with the outdoors and the environment. They come from a varied background like teaching, engineering, medical and the arts.
